Doncaster School for Deaf Children is managed by The Carr Fenton Foundation. Founded in 1829, the school makes a huge contribution to education for Deaf children.

Steph said: “This is my eighth year working at the school, teaching mostly secondary English. For most of that time, I’ve also been the lead for English across the school, and I’ve really enjoyed developing our English curriculum, our reading strategy and lots of reading for pleasure initiatives.

“I love working at the school - the pupils and staff are fantastic, so I am looking forward to this new challenge.”

Melissa said: “Since joining the school in 2022, I have been proud to be part of a committed and passionate staff team dedicated to supporting Deaf children and young people. I have recently completed my qualification for teacher of the Deaf, further strengthening my knowledge and practice in deaf education.

“I am enthusiastic about contributing to the continued development of the school and working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure that school continues to provide the highest quality education, as well as ensuring that Deaf children and young people are well prepared for life beyond school.”

In addition to Doncaster School for Deaf Children, The Carr Fenton Foundation manages a range of services, including Little Learners Day Nursery, Dickson House Children’s Home, The Yorkshire Rose College, and Aspire to Be Employability Services.
