Safeguarding

At Dickson House, the safety, wellbeing, and happiness of every child is at the heart of everything we do. We provide a caring, supportive, and communication-accessible environment where children are encouraged to feel safe, express their views, and know who they can talk or sign to if they have any worries or concerns.

Our staff team is fully trained in safeguarding and works in line with the Children’s Homes Regulations (2015), including the Protection of Children Standard (Regulation 12). We ensure children are protected from harm, supported to keep themselves safe, and cared for in a secure environment where risks are carefully assessed and managed.

We follow national safeguarding guidance, including Working Together to Safeguard Children, alongside local safeguarding procedures. We work closely with the Doncaster Safeguarding Children Partnership (DSCP), social workers, education providers, health professionals, and other partner agencies to ensure children receive the support and protection they need.

Each child has an individual care plan and risk assessment which are regularly reviewed. Children also have their own bedroom key, and their privacy and personal space are respected at all times, helping them feel safe, valued, and secure within their home.
